Statement on the death of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia

Paata Gugushvili Institute of Economics with a great heart grief informs that in 17th of March, 2026, at the age of 93, felt asleep to the Lord Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia - Ilia II. 

The repose of Patriarch Ilia II marks the end of an entire era (1977 to 2026) for the Church of Georgia, one of the oldest Orthodox Church in over the world,

as he was not only a spiritual Father but a point of  reference for the People of Georgia, leaving an indelible mark on the course of whole Orthodox Christians worldwide.
